2D Floor Plan Maker — Draw Plans Online for Free
Why 2D First
Most home designs start in 2D. You're laying out walls, sizing rooms, deciding where the kitchen island goes. 2D is fast, dimensional, and easy to share with a contractor or family member. Aedifex lets you draft an accurate 2D floor plan in your browser, with the 3D preview always one click away.
Drawing Walls
Click two points to place a wall. Aedifex shows the length inline as you drag. Snap-to-grid keeps everything aligned (10 cm, 50 cm, or 1 m steps). For curved walls — alcoves, bay windows, or organic spaces — drag the midpoint handle to bend the wall to the curvature you need.
You can edit any wall after placement: drag endpoints to resize, type exact dimensions, change thickness, or split into multiple segments.
Doors, Windows, Openings
Drag a door template onto a wall and Aedifex automatically cuts the opening. Set width, swing direction, and height with numeric inputs. Windows behave the same way: click on a wall, set the sill height and dimensions, see the result in 3D.
For interior openings without doors (large arches, walk-throughs), use the opening tool — it cuts the wall without adding a door object.
Real Measurements
Every distance in Aedifex is in real-world units, defaulting to meters but switchable to feet. The dimension labels in 2D mode show wall length and room area as you draft. Exporting to print produces a scaled drawing you can hand to a contractor.
When You're Ready, Switch to 3D
Click the 3D toggle in the top toolbar. The same plan renders as a navigable 3D scene. Place furniture, try materials, walk through with the camera. Edits sync both ways: move a wall in 3D and the 2D plan updates immediately.
Try the demo to see how the toggle works on a sample apartment.

Why Accuracy Matters
A 2D plan is useful only if the dimensions can survive real decisions. Cabinet runs, bed clearances, door swings, and hallway widths all depend on small measurements. Use Aedifex to test those details early, then switch to 3D when the plan needs to be understood by someone who does not read drawings every day.
